2010-11 | Design & Business Immersion
CIA Teaching:
2nd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (6cr - SP), 4th Year ID Studio (3cr - SP), Transportation (3cr - FA).
Initiated the practice of formal ‘events’ to start each class session. This was intended to address a growing tendency for students to arrive late to class.
Held the Design Language Final at the Peter B. Lewis Building (WSOM).
CIA Service:
Planned the Design Studio clean-up and set-up.
Participated in the Apple Digital Campus 3-day CIA iPad training session.
Built relationship with Diebold resulting in a $48K funded project.
Secured a space in the Halley Building and organized an Exhibition of student-designed furniture made from reclaimed wood (pictured).
Managed the design of the CIA Ceremonial Mace.
Designing and secured funding for a sustainable workstation for the new Design Studio.
Designed and installed a CIA exhibit at the Glenmoor Gathering of Significant Automobiles.
Traveled with the CIA leadership team to Detroit to meet with major manufacturers.
Traveled to the AICUO awards reception in Wooster to support our three CIA student finalists.
Participated in Open Houses/Accepted Student Events.
Organized events around the Auto Show (exhibit & symposium) and collaborated with Admissions to make this a recruitment event.
Assisted with Spring Design Show planning & promotion. Show held at the CWRU Weatherhead School of Management to foster collaboration between CIA and WSOM students. Added a business school-funded competition to promote engagement and a speaker series (Brett Lovelady of Astro, Christian Davies of Fitch and Aaron Keller of Capsule).
Committees: Strategic Planning, Academic Planning, Convocation, Presidential Search and Foundation Faculty Search, Environment Chairs Council (½ year). Also participated in the Marketing VP, Enrollment VP and Career Services Director Searches.
Professional:
Participated in the CIA Faculty Exhibition.
As part of my PhD work, ran a year-long project with MOCA that resulted in development of a game to promote collaboration and advanced planning at the Museum. Invited by the MOCA Executive Director to play the game with the MOCA Board.
As part of the District of Design economic development initiative, Planned the Cleveland Furniture Fair in Downtown Cleveland. It included over fifty Northeast Ohio furniture manufacturers and included CIA student exhibition intended to push the envelope of design and sustainability.
District of Design efforts ended in the Summer of 2011 due to the worsening global economic crisis and real estate foreclosures.

Speaker, Hathaway Brown Education Innovation Summit (Nov 5, 2010) – Discussion of role of art & design in education.
As part of my Lakewood Public Library Art Selection Committee work, I helped review over 200 submissions for the main library sculpture.
Participated in the Spirit of Leadership Training, which involved an action-oriented learning experiences through biomimicry.
