CIA Teaching:
2nd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 4th Year ID Studio (6cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (6cr - SP), Discovery Elective (3cr - SP).
Design Language Project Review review with Energizer and Homedics (pictured).
CIA Service:
Planned the Design Studio clean-up and set-up.
Worked with the Animation Faculty, Haishan Deng and Ed Covert (ID faculty) to promote collaboration between the departments related to the GM sponsored project. This work led to the change in 3D Modeling for Transportation to 3D Modeling for Concept Vehicles.
Joined VAT in a leadership discussion about the decision to expand the Animation/Illustration studio into the Painting Studio (and the ripple effect might mean changes to Drawing, Ceramics and Glass).
Fostering a relationship with Swagelok, including planning and running a 2-day innovation workshop for the Diverse Thinking Network Team. For the Institute this represent a development opportunity, while Swagelok is trying to foster a culture of innovation.
Met with Energizer, iDesign and SmartShape Design, GM, Fiat-Chrysler, the Greater Cleveland Auto Dealers Association, Little Tikes and Fisher Price, which hire, sponsor projects or donate money.
Regularly available to students outside of ID and it is not uncommon for faculty to recommend that students talk to me or for students to approach me for my advice (GD, IA, SEM, Painting, etc).
Interviewed prospective transfer students and meeting with prospective students and families.
Working with Institutional Advancement (meeting with prospective donors/partners), Admissions (Open Houses, prospective student meetings, note cards) and Marketing (PR opportunities – radio, TV, print/online - and department videos).
Participated in CIA training sessions.
Participated in Open Houses/Accepted Student Events.
Managed Haishan Deng’s resignation and filling the transportation design courses on short notice.
Advocate for long-time faculty who’s lectureships were expiring – ultimately working out an arrangement to keep them in some capacity.
Provided support needed for the NASAD self-study, including written responses, preparation of site visit materials and mentoring of Design faculty in material preparation.
Providing time, contacts and knowledge support for Team Neo and Creative Startups, who were working on a Design/Creative Industries Study.
Assisted with Spring Design Show planning & promotion.
Committees: NASAD Instructional Programs Sub Committee, the Curricular Task Force and Faculty Affairs.
Professional:
Participated in the CIA Faculty Exhibition - Exhibition of nCamp products intended to place an emphasis on the aesthetics of a functional object.
Lectured, CWRU Biomedical Engineering Students (Matt Williams) – Ergonomics & Interfaces.
For nCamp I have weekly team meetings, communicate with factories, develop and implement marketing strategies, maintain brand guidelines, developing collateral materials, etc. Additionally, I work with attorneys (intellectual property and contracts), assist with raising investment, manage photography and videography, while leveraging local engineering and prototyping resources.
Introduced nCamp Insulated Cups, Water Bottle & Carry Case.
The nCamp Café was the winner of ‘Best of the Best’ among camping coffee makers by BestReviews.
As part of my consulting work, developed products for DAP (part of RPM International).
I also experimented with digital drawing and collaborated with Ed Covert on creating content for the new ID/ANIM 3D Modeling for Concept Vehicles Course.
I also visited the Rid-All Green Partnership Urban Demonstration Farm to gain an understanding of current urban farming practices (current students have an interest in this subject).
Awarded a patent: D833,794 (Nov 20, 2018) – Coffee Pot.
Organized a 2-day workshop for Swagelok – DTN (2018-2019), working with two-dozen key stakeholders on approaches to improving innovation.
