Completed as part of the World Building Project in the first-semester first year Discovery Elective in Fall 2022. The project requires students to read a sci-fi or fantasy book or short story (that has not been made into a film), then develop gear, environments, graphics or vehicles that support the characters and story. This challenges the student to interpret ideas from written descriptions. They conduct research, develop image boards, generate many ideas and eventually refine a direction. This project was completed over 10 weeks. I co-taught this course with Len Peralta, a graphic designer, illustrator and adjunct faculty member.
