2005-06 | Future Focus
CIA Teaching:
3rd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), Ceramic Design (3cr FA), 4th Year ID Studio (6cr - SP) (I was only assigned 12 credits - I can't recall why).
Held the Design Language Project final review at the Future Center. The project involved rethinking the Hoover brand and the CEO of Hoover. The event opened regional economic discussions related to the impending sale of the brand.
CIA Service:
Planned the Design Studio clean-up and set-up.
Planned, raised money and initiated departmental space improvements.
Invited Mark Nichols of Essential to speak at CIA.
Developed promotional materials for ID.
Worked with the Botanical Gardens on a holiday exhibition of CIA Student Toy Designs.
Helped organize the Future Center opening and inaugural exhibition (pictured).
Recommended Tucker Viemeister for Commencement Speaker.
Begin discussions with CWRU/WSOM and CSU to expand innovation management education in the region.
Selected to be part of the team identifying architectural firms for the unified campus - researched, reviewed, interviewed and made recommendations.
Participated in Open Houses/Accepted Student Events.
Organized events around the Auto Show (exhibit & symposium).
Assisted with Spring Design Show planning & promotion.
Committees: Given the time-consuming nature of planning the Future Center (business plan, fund raising, hiring, etc.) I was relieved of formal committee service.
Professional:
Participated in CIA Faculty Exhibition.
Begin discussions with the City of Cleveland and other local colleges to create ‘Cleveland Design Prize’ and a city ‘design district.’
Worked with automotive design students to develop promotional brochure sent to major manufactures.
Lectured, CWRU Weatherhead School of Management – discussion of creative process with engineering management and MBA students.
