2019-20 | The Pandemic

CIA Teaching:
2nd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 4th Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (6cr - SP), 4th Year ID Studio (3cr - SP).
Hosted Robert Maschke and Deej Lincoln for the furniture final review.
Field Trip to Sauder Furniture (junior class for the furniture project).

CIA Service:
Planned the Design Studio clean-up and set-up.
Met with Meon (Jayson Simeon), Eaton (Brian Shyu), Swagelok (Joey Arnold), GM, Ford, Hyundai (Andrew Moir) and Step2.
Met with the Cleveland History Center to plan the Alternative Fuel Exhibition. Connected the Museum Team with Stellanis, which provided concept vehicles for the exhibition and hosted Jenn Baugher (ID 2015) at the show opening.
Worked with Dennis Futo to bring the Kirk Bennion and the yet-to-be-released New Corvette to Campus (ended up being a media event - Corvette Video) (pictured).
Recruited Eric Stoddard to teach in Transportation Design.
Hosted Brian Peterson (ID ’09) & Tobias France (’98) studio visits.
Met with prospective students/families.
Prior to the pandemic, worked with Bluescape to establish virtual interaction (for Ford project). This ultimately informed our virtual teaching (months in advance of the shutdown).
Toured University Hospitals with Step2 as preliminary research for a funded sponsored project focused on play in the long-term pediatric care unit. COVID caused a change in the project topic (due to the lack of hospital access).
Quickly responded to COVID shutdown with a plan for teaching online and getting ID faculty up to speed within days & prepared student material bundles prior to the closure of the studio.
Successfully taught online, created asynchronous content and lined up virtual guest designers from all over the world to participate in reviews - while also teaching a 3- and 7-year-old at home.
Participated in Open Houses/Accepted Student Events (virtual or in-person).
Created Commencement Videos for each graduating ID student.
Helped plan the Virtual Spring Design Show, included show related IDSA and board events.

Committees: Faculty Affairs, Freshman Elective Task Force, Fabrication Studios Search, Transportation Design Faculty Search (chair - cancelled due to the pandemic), Fall Planning Committee (pandemic-related).

Professional:
Participated in the CIA Faculty Exhibition.
While visiting Boston, met with Jock Herron, a faculty member at the Harvard Graduate School of Design, to discuss each other’s work and programs.
Designed the 3rd Generation nCamp Café.
Lectured, CWRU Biomedical Engineering Students (Matt Williams) – Ergonomics & Interfaces.
Ongoing photo shoots, design of social media strategy and content creation.
Winner, Schreckengost Teaching Award from the Cleveland Institute of Art (May 2020).
Trademark Awarded (Japanese) - 6365246 (Mar 18, 2020) – NCAMP Logo & Word Mark.
Panelist, in a discussion following an IDSA-sponsored screening of the 2018 film ‘Rams’ about the legendary designer Dieter Rams (October 2019).
