2020-21 | Bringing Things to Life

CIA Teaching:
Discovery Elective (3cr - FA), 2nd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 3rd Year ID Studio (6cr - SP),
Successfully balanced in-person and virtual experiences, including producing asynchronous content (pictured).
Worked with Little Tikes to moved the sponsored project to the Fall, since students lost internship opportunities in Summer 2020.
Developed the nCamp Food Prep Knife as part of a class demo (this would later become the product that inspired the m.power project).
Organize Furniture Project Guest Reviews.
The Smart Shape Team and Josh Greiner (Mach-e Designer) of Ford to present to sophomores about ergonomics.

CIA Service:
Planned the Design Studio clean-up and set-up. This was reconfigured due to the pandemic and included distancing, barriers and elimination of shared spaces.
Met with Admissions (David Sigman) to discuss plan for ID recruitment.
Developed an IML Deck that gave form to the concept (I was provided a 1-page document, with 1 paragraph describing the IML).
Worked with the Cleveland Foundation on the PPE design as an alternative internship, then managed team mentors throughout late summer and early fall (comprehensive presentation developed).
Proposed Car Design Academy workshop for transportation design students (10-week workshop ran with 8+ students).
Met with the Spotted Owl Team to discuss a fall Design Center project (this became a real project in Fall 2021).
Met with Irina Zavatski of FCA to discuss sponsored project (we worked with FCA in the Fall).
Planned the Foundation Design Elective (new course, new team).
Fireside Chat with Scott Richardson for Institutional Advancement (October 2020)
Participated in HLC-related meetings.
Met with Hyundai to discuss potential sponsored project & planning (worked with Hyundai in Spring 2021).
Met with iDesign to discuss potential sponsored project (we worked with iDesign in Spring 2021).
Met with several non-ID majors, freshman and high school students seeking advice.
Participated in Open Houses/Accepted Student Events (virtual or in-person).
Participated in Racial Equity Training (Groundwater).
Meeting with Navistar to discuss summer internships.
IDO meetings (organization that supports K-12 design programing).
Helped plan the Virtual Spring Design Show (including prep & participation in the Cynthia Gascoigne Spring Design Show event).

Participated in the CIA Faculty Exhibition (nCamp Café Evolution and digital explorations created during the COVID-19 shutdown).

CWRU DesignTank Judging.
Lectured, CWRU Biomedical Engineering Students (Matt Williams) – Ergonomics & Interfaces.
Expert witness in a substantial IP litigation case.
Presented to CWRU Design for America Group (prep & event).
Supported Jacinda Walker / Cleveland Design Week by finding a speaker for the event (Malcolm Moorer, class of 2015 of GM).
Met with former CIA Board Chair Gary Johnson to discuss youth design & innovation strategy for Indiana.
