2021-22 | IML & Sabbatical

CIA Teaching:
Discovery Elective (3cr - FA), 2nd Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), 4th Year ID Studio (3cr - FA), Sabbatical (SP22).
Tutored a struggling student over winter break (T.A.).
Launched the nCamp Food Prep Knife concurrently with Fall courses to demonstrate the process & possibility.

CIA Service:
Planned the Design Studio clean-up and set-up.
Spent over 100 hours during sabbatical on IML-related activities, including meetings and writing the IML Business Plan (during sabbatical) that was submitted to the State of Ohio.
Met with Nottingham-Spirk Design Associated (regarding a test project) and Asiatown Representatives (regarding ‘Gates Project’).
Meeting with Sandusky Schools (Rosalyn Shepard) and Solon Schools.
Completed curricular mapping for Industrial Design.
Meeting with Reynaldo Zabala to understand AR/VR capabilities.
Recruited Jenn Baugher (Stellantis) to teach. Jenn was hired by Tesla and had to leave mid-semester, so a recruited Jeremy Glover to replace her.
Presented a proposal for a UX/UI minor at the Chair meeting (during sabbatical).
Participated in the Commencement Dinner & Ceremony.
Met with multiple prospective students, including Daniel Roth (a SEM grad who returned to CIA to complete studies in Industrial Design).
Participated in Fall Open House.
Prepared a Design Studio Upgrade proposal (including floor plans, equipment lists and funding sources).
Invited Tobias France to speak during the Spring Design Show (pictured). Included several preparatory meetings, coordinate of support resources and moderating his presentation.

Committees: Faculty Affairs, IDEA Council, IML Task Force, 3D Modeling Lecturer Search (chair) and Career Services Director Search.

Professional:
Participated in the CIA Faculty Exhibition.
Planned and managed a video shoot for the nCamp Food Prep Knife that included Chef Ben Bebenroth.
Launched and successfully completed a Kickstarter Campaign for the nCamp Food Prep Knife (this would become a model for the m.power project).
Began development of the nCamp Folding Firepit.
Met with Nikki Woods to plan post-Sabbactical events.
As part of my consulting work, developed products for DAP (part of RPM International).
Lectured, CWRU Biomedical Engineering Students (Matt Williams) – Ergonomics & Interfaces.
Expert Witness in IP litigation case.
Worked with Animation Students about an nCamp LLC animation.
Met with team members from Magnet, Spice, CSU, OSU, Inventor’s Help and Dan T. Moore Company as part of sabbatical research.
Awarded a patent: 11,181,278 B2 (Nov 23, 2021) – Gas Collapsible Cooking Stove.

Misc:
Wrote grad school recommendation letters for multiple students.
International Housewares Competition Awards – Larris Li (Honorable Mention).
